  2. Slow progress on #wanikani

    Burn rate: 1.93 items/day 📉

I'm beginning to wonder if I should just stop at this point, haha. I'll let it run until the end of the year, and hopefully the number of remaining items would be < 100 by then.

Lately I've been using bunpro for vocabulary more heavily, and this seems quite productive since I only add words that I encounter in the books I currently read.

  5. Yesterday, I was double checking the phrase "muri shinaide" (literal translation from Japanese is "don't do the impossible," but contextually is a little more like "take it easy" or "don't work too hard"). I was a bit surprised to see the AI Overview give me that initial response.

Then this morning I saw the news about Google's AI Overview replying to google searches of the word "disregard," so I guess this is a new thing. Haha

  6. dirtbag confessions: when i lived in japan sometimes i would surreptitiously drop an airplane bottle of bailey’s into my coffee at starbucks.

just reminded of this bc i saw a skit of a guy picking up a “trendy starbucks girl” but for “trendy” he used the mojibake お洒落 (alcohol drop) and i got a little nervous/excited about my dirtbag nonsense getting normalized 😆

    (it’s pronounced osharé)
