  1. Slow progress on #wanikani

    Burn rate: 1.93 items/day 📉

I'm beginning to wonder if I should just stop at this point, haha. I'll let it run until the end of the year, and hopefully the number of remaining items would be < 100 by then.

Lately I've been using bunpro for vocabulary more heavily, and this seems quite productive since I only add words that I encounter in the books I currently read.

    "以内と以下、ここに注意!

    順位を表す場合、「以下」と「以内」は反対の内容になります。

    <例>
    3位以下はメダルがありません。(つまり、「3位以内」1位~3位、「3位以下」3位~ということ)

    これ、無意識に使っているのだけど、意識すると混乱しかねないよね。
    ちなみに、 #ChatGPT に相談したら、「以下」ではなく「以降」を使うことをアドバイスされた。でも、「以内」の代わりに「以前」を使うのはダメだと…。
    「以前」と「以降」は時間を表す時に使うイメージで、さらに混乱。
    #Gemini には尋ねてないのだけど、 #Google 検索の #AI による概要によると、「以降」を順位に使ってはダメらしい。私も使う気にはならない。

  3. Finally signed up for the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) for this December!

Fun note: Only took me about 40 minutes to complete the registration as the site kept crashing from too much traffic.

If you have any tips, tricks, or study suggestions - I'm all ears!

  4. I'm at a point where I am trying to input as much Japanese as possible - including gaming.

What are some suggestions for games in Japanese and/or Japanese titles I should check out? In terms of systems, I currently have an Ayn Odin w/ emulation, a Switch 2 and Steam on my Fedora machine. I might pick up a used gaming system at BookOff (Japanese 3DS, etc...)

  5. Hallo fedinauts.

My child (university age) is teaching themselves Japanese and has got to the point where they need a qualified instructor to teach grammar and spoken language skills. They understand basic conversation and have taught themselves at least 750 kanji.

Does anyone have contacts for native Japanese speakers who know how to teach Japanese as a foreign language? We've looked locally, so now we're looking for someone who is happy to teach online.

  6. I tried really hard to like #anysoftkeyboard on #android. Used it for a month. Love that it's #opensource. It's just not nearly as smooth or good as #SwiftKey, plus no support (yet) for #日本語
Hope to check it out down the road again though. For now, back to a #microsoft product. :CRYINGWHY:
