In times of old courtiers and courtesans would flock to the banks of the Tamagawa (玉川) in Ide (井手), south of Kyōto, to view the yamabuki. It was an expensive excursion, giving birth to the phrase "scattering gold coins as the yamabuki scatters golden petals".
