I love how linux and expecially #zorin just work in the background without needing precious attention to expand my Onedrive, AppleCloud, Google Drive, REgister, EULA, etc.

So far my daughter has only used her #Zorin Linux 13" MacBook Air for playing Roblox, so today I showed her how to use FreeTube (after disabling recommendations!) and she immediately made herself an extensive K-Pop/J-Pop playlist which she's been listening to while she finishes up her summertime homework.

Das sehe ich nicht so Stephan, ich nutze seit der Version Maya (2012) gerne Linux Mint. Habe #fedora, #ubuntu, #budgie, #suse, #manjaro, #debian #zorin, #tails, #solus, #tuxedoos ausführlich im Betrieb gehabt.
Bin aber jetzt endgültig bei #linuxmint lmde :linuxmint: , also die Debian-Version geblieben.
Es ist eine ausgereifte Distribution, wo alles am besten zusammenpasst.👍
Also meine klare Empfehlung für Anfänger und fortgeschrittene 🏅

c't hat nun auch mal ein Zorin-Video gemacht - sind soweit ganz angetan
Ich hatte in den letzten Monaten schon einige Male berichtet, dass aus meiner Sicht das eine empfehlenswerte Distro ist.
Neben den im Video erwähnten Punkten würde ich noch hinzufügen:
- meines Wissens einzige Distro, die OneDrive sofort korrekt handelt (das hat nichts mit den Online-Konten zu tun)
- beste Touchpad-Unterstützung mit Erkennung von Mehrfinger-Gesten

Here's what I did when reinstalling #Zorin:
1. Delete all directories except /home from the root partition.
2. Move /home/* to the top level.
3. Shrink the partition.
4. Create a new root partition.This way, you just convert your root partition to a home partition, instead of creating a brand new home partition from scratch. There's a good chance you'll keep your data and don't need to tediously restore your backup.
It worked fine for me, at least. 🤷

What #Linux distro (with Gnome!) should I install next?
Currently, I use #Zorin, a polished version of Ubuntu. I still like its design, but there are two issues:
1️⃣ The upgrader sucks: When upgrading from v16 to v17, it didn't check for a sufficient amount of free disk space, which corrupted the installation. Now, the upgrade from v17 to v18 failed with an unhelpful generic error message.
2️⃣ Zorin is always at least one year behind #Ubuntu, which sucks because of compatibility issues.

My ten-year-old got his first laptop. Windows install was a nightmare, the Microsoft account nonsense meant we couldn't even get Minecraft installed after 2 hours of working on it.
Of course, I suggested we nuke the disk and install #Linux. Considered Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and then I found #Zorin.
Zorin is FANTASTIC! I've never seen such an easy to use OS. The software "shop" is outstanding. Really impressed. I'd consider it for myself if I wasn't so married to my arch btw + i3 setup. ;)

Es ist vollbracht. Ich bin privat Windows-frei. Alle meine PCs laufen nun europäisch mit dem Zorin OS.

Die Menschen, die sich regelmäßig darüber echauffieren, dass #Windows häufig Updates macht und dann (selten) neu gestartet werden möchte: Warum nervt euch das bei z.B. #ZorinOS nicht? Jedesmal wenn ich die Kiste anschmeiße, weist mich #Zorin auf Updates hin und jedes zweite Mal möchte es bitte einen Neustart haben?
Mich nervt das nicht, aber es gibt viele, die genau das bei Windows bekritteln.
