We're thinking of finally giving up Xfinity/Comcast and switching to Ziply fiber and streaming services. Anyone have experience with #Ziply? Is it reliable, unreliable, fast, slow? Thanks!
(Also open to suggestions re: cordcutting in general, whether we should get a streaming bundle from YouTube or ? etc. etc.)

Yesterday, 3 guys in vests showed up with shovels and picks to begin carving up the ground.
The ground is owned by the HOA. The board was not amused.
They claimed they were from Ziply, but their van was unmarked.
They claimed they were running a line to someone's condo, but that person, who has spoken with Ziply recently, had not ordered any service from them.
None of the utilities were marked.
They had no permits.
One of the board members chased them off.
Today, they showed up again with their vests, picks, and shovels, in an unmarked van. Again, the same board member told them to pound sod without permits. They left.
We're used to Ziply. This is not what we're used to.
What to make of it?

Ziply sent an email indicating they are sending a self-install kit for the 2GB line instead of an installer. I should expect a package I can track. No installer is arriving between 1 and 5 (I am inferring that). The start date isn't today, but tomorrow.
What a difference a day makes

As great as fiber to the home is, #Ziply offering 2+ Gbps for residential feels a tad unnecessary / selling to people who don't know what they need. Heck, even a 1 Gbps line is pushing it.
Streaming Dolby Vision is ~50 mbps.
OS updates like macOS Sequoia via wire, pictured, briefly cracks 175 mbps.
WWW is already lean.
Steam is the only client that for me has saturated 1 gbps. Unless a customer is frequently moving large files or downloading big games, why bother with more than gigabit?

Yeah, about that. Note to self: check the aging UPS before announcing an ISP outage. Sorry. #ziply . My bad.

Against all odds and expectations, #Ziply managed to install my fiber connection both on time AND at the right speed.
I have no idea how I got so lucky but I hope I stay this lucky.

#Ziply is ALMOST as incompetent as my moving company.
-
#Ziply is the most incompetent ISP I have ever had.
And I once had Adelphia Cable.

I feel like this isn't the best speeds I could be getting on #Ziply with my 300/300 plan...

Between midnight and 6am Thursday, if I'm not asleep, I'll be recording and mixing. #Ziply maintenance.
At least they let you know. I don't recall other ISPs being as mindful of its #1 customer, me.
