It took quite a long time due to heatwave exhaustion, but now my new #minizine is ready to get digitised. I am currently working on a set of „angels“ for an ink art zine. This time it‘ll just be a collection of ink drawings, probably with a bit of introduction text. Progress is slow. I am a bit on the fence if I should write a little about each design, or not. Hm.

I made #zines for the first time in the 1970/80s because I was fascinated to produce #minibooks or #magazines with simple materials. I restarted not long ago as a personal protest against being robbed by AI corporations, against AI slop. I wanted to do something simple outside of hype culture.
Well, seems to be a trend now. 😉 And I like it. I like that human explosion of #creativity!

The stifling heat following an ultra-brief thunderstorm and the national holiday should be excuse enough to put off any hard housework and stay in the coolest (27°C) room.
There, all I can do (imagine, my laptop has no internet connection) is embroider, paint, write by hand or sleep. So I’ll finally finish the #Zine! Purely handmade by a real human.

@riotmuffin A good idea for small #zines! But aren't zines very different? I know photography zines as perfect as small books, with weeks of work ... and the author must make a living.

A rather cold (15°C) rainy day ... working on my #zine. Such a good feeling to use paper, pencils, and scribbly, wobbly #humanmade lines!
What I already know: it will be bigger than a 9-page mini zines and have text. And I can even recycle these images for my blog.

Mondays from 4-6pm (starting May 4th)
MakerSpace at Gosford Regional LibraryCalling all young artists! Do you like drawing and making booklets about your special interests? Central Coast Zine Club is for you! CCZC will meet on Mondays at Gosford Regional Library's MakerSpace from 4-6pm. There will be 12 sessions between May 4th to July 27th, 2026. CCZC will not be running on Monday public holidays (July 8th).
Learn all about zines, the community behind them, and different booklet formats to express yourself! Manga, poetry, fan-art, illustration, music, specialty topics, fun facts... Zines are for everyone!
Materials provided, just bring yourself.
You may book for multiple sessions. Please notify the CCZC organisers if you are unable to attend a pre-booked session.
