“Now the disciples had forgotten to bring any bread; and they had only one loaf with them in the boat. And he cautioned them, saying, “Watch out—beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.” They said to one another, “It is because we have no bread.” And becoming aware of it, Jesus said to them,

@wfryer
My version of what someone else wrote adding [my comments]
”So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God [glory of people / of love].
Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God [or worry who else I might have missed out in this list],
just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, [i do like Robin Hood type of stuff sounding like this!]
so that they may be saved. [and they save me]
Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.“ [copy love more often, don't think of God as an object even if others do]

The most popular verse among #YouVersion users for 2023, the one highlighted and shared the most during the year, is Isaiah 41:10:
"Do not be afraid—I am with you!
I am your God—let nothing terrify you!
I will make you strong and help you;
I will protect you and save you." (GNT)
Yep. I think we've all needed reminding of that quite often this year.
Here's the full chapter for context. It's also pretty powerful, but I wonder how many people who shared the verse read the context....
Got a question for the Fediverse: Have a friend that is blind and she would like to be able to ask an app to read aloud the Bible for her by either asking Siri or the app to play a chapter or chapter and verse aloud? Does anyone know of a way to do this? The YouVersion app can’t really do it as you have to navigate to it and then have it play. She really would like to do it via voice. #accessibility #iphone #siri #bible #youversion
@pianomarian Thanks for your questions.
1. No, #MissionAssist does not have any iOS apps. We would need a #volunteer to join our team who has experience of developing and publishing apps for the Apple App Store. Enquiries welcome!
2. Yes, the #EasyEnglishBible is included in #YouVersion. Look for "EASY" "EasyEnglish Bible 2018". https://www.bible.com/versions/2079-EASY-easy-english-bible-2018.
The #Christian festival of #Easter is approaching. If you are not in the habit of regular reading, now is a great time to start.
The #EasyEnglish #Bible is available in #YouVersion or online on our website.
Try starting in the book called Mark, chapter 8, verse 31 - https://www.easyenglish.bible/bible/easy/mark/8:31/.
"Meet Jesus" https://www.easyenglish.bible/study/meet-jesus/
and "30 days with Jesus" https://www.easyenglish.bible/study/30-days-with-jesus/
... are both available via the #EasyEnglish #Bible website, or as reading plans in the #YouVersion app. They are suitable to read alone or with other people.
@CharismaticBatman Many thanks for your comment.
Note that we provide free access the #EasyEnglish #Bible via our website, #YouVersion, and our own #apps for Android.
We'd be very interested to hear feedback about whether people would like an #eBook, or #pdf, or another format. Of course, we'd need to understand the benefits to current and/or potential new readers, and the level of interest, before committing to support another format.
Thanks!
