Just as a computer uses 0s and 1s, the Yi Jing uses two types of lines: broken (Yin) and unbroken (Yang). This simple "binary" system is actually what inspired the inventors of modern math and computing.

Even when things feel chaotic, there is a hidden "rhythm" or shape to that chaos, much like how a messy pile of leaves still follows the laws of physics.

The idea connecting these is "meaningful coincidences" - terms coined by Carl Jung.

I have an unusual method of throwing the #YiJing. It duplicates the odds of the classic yellow stalk procedure, but instead of a d20 and a d8 I used two d10s and one d8. Works for me.

@cel A 4096-sided die so I can roll the #YiJing without fuss or bother.

Salutary #YiJing reflections this morning. First time I've used the method below, albeit with 2d10s —the more focus, the better.

Generating all the permutations of the hexagrams of the #YiJing as a 4096d would simplify matters considerably. Assume a spherical cow... A very large spherical cow...

The d8 and d20 method generates the same odds as the venerable yarrow stalk method. #YiJing

There's always a moving line. Things are always in flux. Settled on the three 6d method. Roll them twice to build the hexagram, then one die a 7th time to designate the moving line. If what I read is correct, this nicely duplicates the yarrow stalk method of old. #YiJing
