Contrast beautiful gift-wrapping designed to be opened easily leaving the paper (or cloth) intact with the way we wrap presents, putting as much tape on as possible to make it next to impossible to remove without the added excitement of a sharp blade to hand.

  17. TIL re Japanese diagonal wrapping (斜め包装):
" “For celebratory occasions,” Kobayashi-san tells me, “you want the pocket facing up, to catch happiness and luck. But for sad occasions, that pocket should be facing down, so that bad things don’t build up.” "

🔸Being all thumbs, have probably out of ignorance wrapped things the wrong way😬

  20. Mia had split and one version had managed to catch the other and tie her up! In the spirit of the holidays, she decided to truss her up with ribbons and red and green to use her as her very own decoration! That is until they merge again anyway xD

  21. The other day I stopped by my local #library (to return an interlibrary loan -- which, if you don't already know about, is worth investigating) and right in front of the circulation desk was a small table with neatly stacked rolls of wrapping paper, several tape dispensers, a big box of fancy bows and some scissors.

My local library has set up a #gift #wrapping station for the general public to use, free of charge. Just walk in and wrap your gifts during open hours, right up to the day before Christmas.

There are lots of bigger reasons to love libraries, but this is one I didn't know about and absolutely adore.

  30. What's a command-line tool to hard-wrap a file but preserve ?

(No, I'd never hard-wrap anything willingly, but sometimes you have to bow to evil in order to achieve greater good.)
