The people's parties biggest accomplishment is still ofc,
that it's almost 3k inhabitants have over 90% happiness and health, 44% loyalty and only 5% of it's population is without a job. -

It's January 1st 1922 in the Communist Republic of Thuringia,
after almost 1 million rubles of investments to setup infrastructure and services, Eisenach and Wartburg are finally making a consistent profit through tourism.
Next step is slowly implementing a cargo train network alongside the current tourist train network, to make moving goods more efficient and develop a 2nd sources of income through export. -

Are there any people here playing Workers and Resources?
I wanna start a new game with realistic mode, but I'm a little afraid bc I don't know how to get a good starting setup and what pitfalls to avoid.
Any tips appreciated :) -

Another big pain point for me is crop production.
I don't know how to scale this up.
There just isn't enough space on the map for all the fields I'd need, but I guess importing it close to custom stations and distributing it with trains is working fine. -

Cant stop thinking about train infrastructure improvements.
I have enough stable income that may allow me to run a smaller train grid for personal trains or cargo only.
Headaches are the station placements though, as I've build a few cities to cramped and dense to quickly relocate inhabitants.
But I plan on adding more cities for more advanced production to depend less on tourism.
One small start with an airplane production plant already helps a lot. -

Some other things that help
- 4 track layouts in high traffick areas
- blocking multiple crossing tracks as one junction
- on longer connections small track pockets for "parking"
- Keep crossing tracks simple in junctions, spread them a across and keep track sections long enough for all trains to allow buffer space -

I always start planning train tracks to cramped leading to heavy bottlenecks or jams.
Especially after introducing train disruption offices.
But I'm at least now confident enough to know how to rework this and of the easiest ways I've found, is using train track roundabouts in front of bigger storage areas with multiple un-/loading points. -

I'm not even playing with Energy, Heating, Plumbing and Waste Management yet, but turning a profit is still hard.
Especially if you don't have lots of natural resources/oil. -

Building a tourist, food and alcohol focused Austria early start in Workers and Resources.
Decent start, despite me being too impatient and spending a lot of money on expansions and a few pandemics, my economy is turning a decent profit and can survive hiccups in my train system as well.
Trying to decentralize and balance the transport system now.
Also the first trading with the West has begun :D -

Since everyone kept hailing #ChatGPT version 5 as some kind of revolutionary update, I decided to test it again today.
I asked it to explain to me how I can use the natural gas resource to support my furniture industry in the city building and logistics game Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic.
It gave me a wonderfully formatted, detailed list of buildings and production chains, and even offered to turn it into a chart or generate a factory blueprint.
Perfect - except that neither natural gas nor furniture are actually in the game. Both were often proposed by fans and have historical precedent in the USSR, but were never implemented. It hallucinated the natural gas industry by describing essentially the oil industry production chain. Furniture was entirely made up; it hallucinated a "furniture factory" turning boards into consumer goods.
Sure this was an unfair "trick", and I can't expect that game's guides to be in its training data. But really, a useful assistant tool should have told me that it has no information on the game's workings or said resources being in it.
But it didn't. And it can't. Because it's a word generator, not a search engine and not any kind of intelligence or thinking apparatus.

After months and months of playing NIMBY rails, I switched my attention to #WorkersAndResources game. This colony simulator is overwhelming in a good way. I am playing on a mountainous and scenic map from Moasl, called Tannheim. #gaming
