#Italy, Integrate #Surveillance for #WNV and #Usutu Virus - Bulletin n. 10, August 29 '24, https://westnile.izs.it/j6_wnd/home

During this week surveillance: 61 new human cases of #WNV infection were reported. Since start of the season, a cumulative number of 232 cases were confirmed: of these, 131 were #WNND (neuroinvasive disease), 29 cases of asymptomatic infection in blood donors, 72 cases of West Nile Fever. Among confirmed cases, there were 8 deaths.

This week: 72 new cases of WNV have been reported; since start of season a total of 171 confirmed cases have been recorded, of which 101 were #WNND (neuroinvasive), 21 asymptomatic cases in #blood donors, 49 West Nile Fever; 6 deaths were also recorded.

47 new human cases of WNV have been confirmed between 8 & 14 August 2024. Since start of the season, 99 confirmed WNV cases were detected, of which 60 were #WNND, 14 asymptomatic cases & 25 West Nile Fever cases. Among confirmed cases, there were 3 deaths. 1 USUV case has been also confirmed.

24 new cases of WNV infection in humans have been reported current wk (1– 7 Aug '24).

Since start of season, 52 cases have been confirmed, of these 29 were #WNND (neuroinvasive), 8 asymptomatic, 15 West Nile Fever; among cases, 3 were fatal.
