Allerdings sind in diesem Sommer viele Vögel, vor allem Amseln, dem #Usutu-Virus zum Opfer gefallen. Das wird übertragen durch Stechmücken. Die konnten sich in diesem warmen und häufig feuchten Sommer prächtig vermehren. Also die Kette: #Klimawandel -> Sommer heiß und feucht -> viele Mücken - > viel Usutu -> wenige Vögel. So einfach und so traurig ist das.

During this week surveillance: 61 new human cases of #WNV infection were reported. Since start of the season, a cumulative number of 232 cases were confirmed: of these, 131 were #WNND (neuroinvasive disease), 29 cases of asymptomatic infection in blood donors, 72 cases of West Nile Fever. 47 new human cases of WNV have been confirmed between 8 & 14 August 2024. Since start of the season, 99 confirmed WNV cases were detected, of which 60 were #WNND, 14 asymptomatic cases & 25 West Nile Fever cases. Among confirmed cases, there were 3 deaths. 1 USUV case has been also confirmed.
