Update: begpost resulted in like 6 more new volunteers so far. Gosh am I relieved.
And is another example of a thing I continue to observe: if you want people to do a thing, don't ask for them to do that thing. Instead, ask for something slightly adjacent to what you actually want them to do. I don't know why it works but it continues to.
