Welcome to the second "#ShelterChallenge" wednesday update: Like many other german towns #Bielefeld has a big public space for up to 10 camper vans, where (motor-) travellers are allowed to sleep near the city. As far as i know - until now - there is no such public space where this is allowed for #bikepacking-travellers or hikers. My opinion is: This is not fair! We need (minimum) one free public #trekking place with shelters!
Travelling by bike and long distance #hiking are socially inclusive and simple to start with. There should be public infrastructure for it, to boost climatefriendly travelling. Long distance travels by #bike are more common than you may know. While doing research for the "Shelter!" project I found the following great examples:
A selforganised group of students at the "#Oberstufenkolleg" Bielefeld made it their school project in 2022: They cycled through #Denmark and created an informative paper about it: https://www.oberstufen-kolleg.de/radreise-in-daenemark-kleinprojekt-am-os-juni-2022/
The #AdventurePlayground Alte Ziegelei Bielefeld had the project "Nasse Socken am Brocken" ("Wet socks at Brocken mountain") in 2025: Kids planned a bike tour along the north sea coast. I also hope to gather additional information about how we may achieve a decision in favour of a free public trekking place in Bielefeld. Le viaduc des Fades, lancé au-dessus de la Sioule, entre les communes de Sauret-Besserve et des Ancizes-Comps, dans le département du Puy-de-Dôme.
Ses deux piles en maçonnerie traditionnelle, qui culminent à plus de 92 mètres, détiennent toujours le record du monde de la hauteur de leur catégorie. Il demeure encore à ce jour le plus haut pont de chemin de fer de France.
Cet ouvrage d'art livre passage à la ligne de chemin de fer de Lapeyrouse à Volvic (tronçon de la relation de Clermont-Ferrand à Montluçon-Ville, via le plateau des Combrailles), dont l’exploitation a été suspendue le 9 décembre 2007 par la direction régionale de la SNCF pour raisons de sécurité, son mauvais état résultant de son manque d’entretien.

SCM Southern Corridor Malaysia has uploaded new video showing drone footage of the progress thus far on the East Coast Rail Link (#ECRL) project in West Malaysia.
ECRL is a standard gauge electrified railway project connecting Klang to Kota Bharu via the East Coast Economic Region states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.

Same as it was 2 years ago, when we cycled this part of the #cycling route #schweizmobil no. 6, rain and thunderstorms showed up. In between some rain pauses, we came across the impressive Solis #viaduct, reached #Tiefencastel, eventually found a shelter to set up our #biwak. At the fire from the #woodgasstove we could warm oureselfe. Next morning, the sky was clear blue. We continued pedaling along the river #albula toward the so named mountainpass.

The #Marine #Viaduct, connecting the #RTSLink between #BukitChagar and #WoodlandsNorth made a significant #progress in the #development.
Crossing the #Straits of #Tebrau, the Marine Viaduct terrestrial bridge is 750 meters long from the shoreline of Stulang Laut.
Moreover, few meters from the #Malaysia - #Singapore #border, pier 47 will be the penultimate pier for the RTS Link Project on the Malaysian’s side and will be connected by a drop-in span with pier 48 from the Singaporean’s side.
