The 6th game of the NHL Stanley Cup Final series on Sunday drew 5.9M viewers, the most for a Stanley Cup Final game since 2019.
The six-game series averaged 5.2M viewers, also the highest since 2019. From everything I’m hearing don’t be surprised if Vegas continues to block Cassidy from interviewing elsewhere. It’s clear to me now that Tortorella will not return as head coach. From what I can see the organization is hedging Cassidy as the backup option. If they can’t find a replacement as good they will go back to Cassidy and he can’t say no as he’s under contract.
Is this a norm in the NHL? Nope but this is the Golden Knights.

People have criticized men’s (& boys) sports as fostering, or at least contributing to, a culture where “we don’t talk about.” That’s rape culture we’re talking about. When the Las Vegas Golden Knights professional hockey club bars a reporter from talking to a player charged (& acquitted) for sexual assault about that incident, that’s contributing to rape culture.
Men’s (& boys’) sports clubs have a lot to answer for viz safety and respect of wome. These men (& boys) & their clubs don’t need protection. They need to start taking responsibility for the things they say, post, do that hurt women, and other men (& boys).
They need to take responsibility for the things they don’t do. Like talking to team mates about how rape is not something honourable men are part of. A team of 18 was invited to a “3-way.” 5 participated. None of the other 13 took leadership to steer their mates away from a bad situation.
There’s lots to talk about. -
It sucks having #Treliving as the #Leafs #GM
In #Calgary he had Tkachuk and Bennet go to the Panthers. Setting them up for back to back #StanleyCup years.
In #Toronto he loses a local kid who is amazing and does everything - even with tons of cap space to work with. Looks like he sent the #VGK to the #NHL cup finals for the next several years while we will start to crumble with such a key player. I am going to miss #Marner and cheer for him. -
