Sunday, I caught the #VASymphony matinee featuring the Samuel Barber 1st Violin Concherto followed by Elgar’s Enigma Variations, two current era orchestral works.
A young violin slinger came in to play the featured part of the Barber. Foxy lady Grace Park swung a mean axe. And the band kept up. Excellent #Orchestra #LiveShow of #CurrentEra music

Staff was just shopping for #VAFest concert tickets. No Bluegrass or rock acts this year. Bela Fleck is coming with friends and Chris Thile and Victor Wooten have new works for the #VASymphony to play. Have been teasing symphony folk about Chris use of 15/4 time (says Pickles Noam Pikelny)
Last year Aoife O’Donnovan, Kitchen Dwellers, and Cowboy Junkies played the tent. Rare to have pops artists.
