I finally got around to creating an #AlmaLinux VM on macOS, using #UTM.
Alma uses slightly more memory than Debian, though memory comparisons may not particularly useful. Still plenty low enough for a running webserver with dynamic content. Like Debian, it boots quickly, maybe 2-3 seconds. Debian is a solid 2 seconds. Neither is using LVM. #Linux #arm64

*BSD virtual machines on MacBook Pro M2 with UTM.

These are setup for command-line usage only, like servers. The operating system icons were available under settings for each machine, a nice touch!

I've been experimenting with #Linux VMs on #macOS using #UTM. Two #Debian VMs, both on Apple's hypervisor, one with QEMU, the other with Apple's #Virtualization backend. Both are running Apache with PHP stack, boot with less than 200MB RAM in use, running Debian's cloud kernel.

The VM with QEMU boots in about 4 seconds, the full Apple stack VM boots in about 2 seconds. A full blown Linux environment with a container-like startup time.

I use this #iPadPro M2 exclusively for drawing in Procreate, and that's it. I'd like to use the tablet for other things too, but I can't stand #iPadOS. Years ago, I had an iPhone13mini and I loved it, but on the iPad, I just hate it.

Well, #Debian #Trixie 64-bit seems to be rock-solid when I run it in #Virtualbox, it's only a crashy piece of shit in #UTM. 32-bit Trixie is fine in UTM, as are #FreeBSD and #OpenBSD. This isn't a general 64-bit #Linux issue, as #Devuan #Excalibur seems to be stable.

I suppose that means it's time to ditch Debian for my #CPAN testing.

interupted pkg update at ca-certificates build make my pkg update error after that.

now I getting "An error occured while fetching package: No error" evertime using pkg to update, install, etc.

freebsd forum suggest to rehash the certificate, but it take a long time to done.
