1. Our group of #UKY College of Engineering capstone instructors received an NSF grant to create a cross-disciplinary capstone pilot program.
2. Finished the #DesktopExplorer game. The ending was not as dark as the rest of the game. Great experience.
3. Stuffed tomatoes with tomatoes from a local produce stand for dinner. Yum!

Well, that was nice. Former #UKY president Lee Todd, who is an electrical engineer, stopped by Newton's Attic today to pick up his granddaughter and popped into my automotive computing lab while I was setting up my CAN bus class for next semester. He was very impressed and will come back to learn more about the lab. I really miss him as a colleague and now I only get to see him about once a year at the ECE department's Christmas party. It's always a delight talking to him. What a mensch!

Well, that was nice. Our campers at #UKY did a great job coming up with great designs and decorations for their 3D-printed derby cars.

For a summer camp for middle schoolers sponsored by Toyota that will be held jointly at #UKY and the Georgetown, KY plant, I have designed a pinewood derby car that can be 3D-printed. We will teach the kids how to create their own parametric design using Onshape. They will then print and race their designs. Because the cars are considerably lighter than wooden ones, we will add slots for weights and the kids can test what weight placements work best.

My colleague Skip, who is an adjunct in our department at #UKY, runs a winery, and his wife runs the Pike Street Winehouse in #Cynthiana, #Kentucky. We finally managed to pay them a visit. Wonderful atmosphere, good wine, and great food.
Definitely worth a visit when you’re in the area.

#UKY commencement was a hoot and a half. It was great to see my students and our daughter graduate. The commencement speech by one of my wife’s students was absolutely hilarious. Mostafa told a very funny and heartwarming tale on how he ended up from Egypt in Kentucky, including a “Walk like an Egyptian” reference.

Looks like we'll have another engineer in the family. Tonight our daughter will be inducted into the Order of the Engineer, and tomorrow will be her official graduation ceremony at the University of Kentucky.

Well, here we go. #UKY will be closed tomorrow, again. The overnight low is forecast to be 3 ºF (that's -16 ºC for you sane folks). Wind chills well into the negative numbers. Power is stable, but I think at this point we'll have to worry more about the water pipes. Stay warm and safe, y'all!

Since the pool hours at #UKY don’t agree with my teaching schedule, I revisited an old love of mine and joined the Lexington #TableTennis club. Today’s first session was a hoot and a half. Nice people, and I was able to hold my own although I haven’t played competitively in over 30 years. Let’s hope the best for my knees.

A sad day for University of #Kentucky folks - After 50+ years and three relocations, Tolly-Ho is closing its doors.
I spent FAR too much money at its original location, but never had a check under the glass! (IYKYK...)

Our #ABET accreditation visit went well. Look like both our #EngineeringTechnology programs here at #UKY will soon be acccredited. There was only one minor issue that we already have addressed. So at least all the work we put in paid off.

2. Lab and office are clean and organized for our academic program #ABET accreditation visit next week.
3. Relaxing with some good wine and re-watching episodes of #CornerGas.

We’ll use the fellowship to develop a trans-disciplinary engineering capstone program that includes students from all engineering disciplines and students from product design as well. Should be a lot of fun.
