Para-Dice, a creation by Saburo Teshigawara for the Ballet of the Grand Theatre of Geneva, offers this Japanese choreographer, who is a real virtuoso of movement, the opportunity to pursue his exploration into dynamics, between the frenzied speed of his most famous works and the absolute inaction in his most recent creations. Para-Dice, the name of his choreography, is a play on words. Between the allusions to paradise and the idea of luck („dice“; luck of the dice), it perfectly defines his art: “Dance is a sculpture, a sculpture of the air, a sculpture of space, a sculpture of time. I dance to make time disappear, I dance to create time”.

Ragnar Kjartansson: Satan is real …

Für „Satan Is Real“ begrub sich Kjartansson bis zur Hüfte und mit nacktem Oberkörper in einem öffentlichen Park in Reykjavik in der Erde, spielte Gitarre und sang mehr als eine Stunde lang immer wieder „Satan is real, and he’s working for me“ (Satan ist real, und er arbeitet für mich). In dem Video tummeln sich Kinder um ihn herum und picknicken sogar.

Die Szene erinnert an Samuel Becketts „Happy Days“, obwohl sich Kjartansson mit seinen grüblerischen Texten von der optimistischen Figur unterscheidet, die in diesem Stück halb begraben ist. Die Worte stammen aus dem falsch verstandenen Gospel-Song der Louvin Brothers, der nicht ganz so düster ist: „Satan ist real, und er wirkt im Geiste. . . . Er kann dich in Versuchung führen und dich in die Irre leiten.“
