Hellooooo it’s my annual Transit Month post promoting my playlist with music I’ve heard on SF transit the past ~3 years
Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/heard-on-san-francisco-public-transit/pl.u-2aoqqADF8LZyk4
There’s now over 17 hours of music! Spend all your waking hours feeling like you’re on the bus :)
I decided to stop syncing to the Spotify playlist though. Soundiiz has a 200 song limit, and $50 a year isn’t my worth it when very few people seem to listen to it lol

We just got the word that the Governor’s Department of Finance won’t certify the $750 million loan needed to keep transit afloat through 2027. We could be looking at service cuts of 40-80% across Bay Area transit agencies as soon as this spring https://sfstandard.com/2025/09/06/newsom-fund-loan-bay-area-transit/
Call the governor’s office to demand that they certify this loan https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfnkGVr90Z3uicSRFzIy9J_giDHCwA41H_R_TgKXXfNl8AOTg/viewform
And attend Monday’s rally to help send the message home https://actionnetwork.org/events/emergency-rally-to-save-bay-area-transit

#TransitMonth awards with SF Transit Riders sftransitriders.org ! Celebrating a big year for transit, including Survive and Thrive 's efforts to save transit from budget cuts, Telegraph for People, Safe Street Rebel, and progress on Geary Blvd bus service, and more!

#TransitMonth rally with Telegraph for People in downtown Berkeley! Great to see so many people organizing to fund and improve transit.
Next couple years are critical, with the need to get more state funding and prep for a regional ballot measure.
Transit is cheap compared to the alternative, which is highway expansion. For example, the State Route 37 widening, which add just 26 miles of highway, is estimated to cost as much as $11 billion. That's more than has been spent on high speed rail so far. 🚌🚃

Great turnout tonight for the labor and transit walking tour, organized by DSA SF! Some highlights:
1: Column commemorating the 1934 general strike
2-3: Sculpture/mural honoring various labor struggles. At Mission & Steuart, across the street from Bloody Thursday, the police double murder that precipitated the strike
4: Mural about the 1916 Preparedness Day bombing, for which two radical labor organizers were framed and imprisoned -
On the 1st day of its big schedule changes, BART counted 158,578 riders, making it the 2nd-busiest Monday since the pandemic started.
(No. 1: 6/20/22, the day of the @warriors victory parade, with 190,519. BART's going to try to beat that record this Saturday.)
