And the security breech (Courts transcription service outsourced to Indian company) gets even bigger… how did they not see this coming? A: Poor or non-existant contract and operations oversight. A typical result from the #Privatisation of what ought to be a publically owned and operated service.
“Earlier this year, embattled transcription company VIQ Solutions breached its Commonwealth contract with the Federal Court by allowing highly sensitive court files to be accessed offshore in India.
The company is now being wound down and was removed from AusTender as an approved supplier by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) on March 19.
However, 13 government agencies have used VIQ Solutions since 2019, including the Department of Defence, Services Australia, the ATO and even the Attorney-General's Department, broadening the risk of potential breaches.”

As always when a private company winds up, its the workers who are left to fend for themselves, meanwhile you can bet your bottom dollar that senior executives and their mates have done well for themselves. Here is more on the Australian Courts Transcription Services woes because of the #Outsourcing (commonly known as #StateCapture) of what ough to be a #State provided #PublicServices is still practiced after decades of imperical evidence which show such practices are more expensive, less reliable and eventually go the wall (financially) when the providers can no longer extract profits from the #Theft.
“"I am hopeful that cases currently relying on transcripts will be redirected on an urgent basis … There are hundreds of us willing to continue this work and do so around the clock if given the opportunity." They said they were "incredibly heartbroken" and felt the winding up of the company and sacking of staff "never had to happen".
