some highlights from today's trip to the Dutch National Railway Museum (Spoorweg Museum) in Utrecht!

1. ICE 3neo that took us from Amsterdam to Arnhem Centraal (we then just got a VIRM from Arnhem to Utrecht after our visit to arnhem) - my first time on an ICE!
2. NS Class 1500 loco aka. British Rail Class 77. ex. BR locomotive used on the woodhead line, so this locomotive likely worked many services through Hadfield near where I grew up before being exported to the Netherlands!
3, 4. British Rail Class 11 shunter, and a NS Class 600 shunter - both British designed and built shunters exported to the Netherlands
5. NS Mat '64 - iconic (imo) NS Intercity train, was very happy to see this in person!

View along the rail, ending several hundred meters ahead at today's track terminus.

Sleepers, ballast, bolt heads – the raw structure of the trackbed. Rolling mark on the rail web dated 1943.

Historical cadastral maps (1910) show the line once continued further, today's buffer stop marks a later cutback, not the original route.

Dawno pociągu nie było;-) Ale zwróćcie uwagę na budynek dawnego młyna w tle. Otóż już go nie ma - w ciągu kilku ostatnich dni go rozebrano. Dzisiaj albo jutro wrzucę świeże zdjęcia. Po ponad 100 latach przestał istnieć.

A sam pociąg to starożytyny skład, zwany pieszczotliwie kiblem po grubym remoncie i doklejeniu nowej mordki;-) To za komuny jeszcze jeździło...

Platforms 1 and 2 at Yonago Station as the train for Okayama arrives. I continue to marvel (through my pictures) at the grittiness of the rural rails in Japan. I understand why folks would want to live in Kyoto or Hiroshima; but give me Yonago or Sakaiminato any day.

I didn't know #TrainTrackTuesday was a thing!

A startlingly complex and delightfully symmetric crossover junction near the terminus of the Keifuku-#Arashiyama Tram line in #Kyoto. I loved the way the electrical poles make the tram look like it's passing through a steel forest. Curiously appropriate, since this is the tourist tram to the Bamboo Forest, and the train station is a shopping mall called the Kimono Forest.
