HVAC repair guy came this morning to replace a part ordered a couple weeks ago. He found the old one still working fine from his previous tinkering. We decided against the new part, since I'll be replacing the boiler & hot water heater with a new single flash heater (wall mounted) soon. He put me in touch with their sales guy on the spot. Cost estimate being prepared.

No sooner had I completed the transfer of £s than he started to tell me that the garage roof and the roof of the kitchen extension wouldn’t last the winter.
He quoted a price which if I trusted him might have been fair but I can’t be certain. And of course I have no clue if his claim that the work needed doing is true.
I was in quite a turmoil last night and it’s pretty much the first thing I’ve thought about on waking.
At 07.43 he sent me a text reducing the quote by £500!#tradesmen 2/3
