FFS, in other Spine news they had to disable a participant's tracker of one of the shorter (only 108 miles) events and pull her off the course because of credible threats to her life over her fundraising for Afghan women & girls. Over 50 retirees now (and I couldn't be bothered to do my 3rd 2 mile rep today). The leader is through the 4th (of five) checkpoint having had less than 4 hours sleep, started at 08:00 on Sunday and is around 190 miles in #TheSpineRace #BritainsMostBrutal #DotWatching

40 participants have retired already, just under 30 and a half hours in (to a race that has a 7 day cutoff). It's icy out there, lots of opportunity to slip and fall. Someone's already managed to fully fall in a river. #TheSpineRace #BritainsMostBrutal #DotWatching

I watched Lucy and John cross the line last night on the fixed webcam, and will try not to stay up to see runner 111 do the same tonight. The first finisher crossed the line at 18:46 and more will make it to Kirk Yetholm overnight, but the vast majority will have another night ahead of them (and another, and another). The focus will go from the front to the back as cut-offs start to loom and the sleep deprivation and fatigue can lead to poor decisions. #TheSpineRace #BritainsMostBrutal #DotWatching

Once again as I laze in my nice warm dry bed, my thoughts turn to those slogging their way North on the Pennine Way.
