Peter Auty - "Walking in the air"
Seminal animation "The Snowman" first aired on Channel 4 in 1982. It's been repeated every year since, as integral a part of the Christmas experience on these shores as Donald Duck is in Sweden.
Howard Blake's soundtrack is based around a musical motif in D-minor, forever mysterious and slightly melancholic. Eventually, the hum resolves into a full song.

I just finished "The Snowman" by Jo Nesbø, and I have a question: is the Finnøy island of the book a real place?
Nesbø describes "the island of Finnøy in Fedje," saying "Finnøy was a tiny island." Checking Google Maps, I see Fedje, a group of small islands NNW of Bergen, but I can't see a place there named Finnøy. There is also a place called Finnøy a long distance *south* of Bergen.
At one point a character gets on a small boat in Bergen and "in 15 minutes" is at Finnøy. Both places I found are too far from Bergen to reach in 15 minutes.
Maybe it's just an invention for the novel. But I'm curious, for no practical reason aside from curiosity. Does anyone know??

@jens going through my catalogue of #MSX games with 5yo #BeardGrabber, I've been running into similar issues, and especially those 80s and 90s games were mostly arcade–based or –inspired, and walking simulators weren't really a thing yet.
Yesterday I thought I'd found a nice game I remember playing myself quite a bit, #TheSnowman by #Quicksilva, based on #RaymondBriggs' book (https://frgcb.blogspot.com/2015/12/the-snowman-quicksilva-ltd-1983.html), which had only a moderate timer, and enemies would only eat the lump of snow you were holding, and not kill your character.
However, getting on and off stairs was tricky even for me, and I quickly discovered that kiddo struggled with staying on platforms; which apparently does kill you.
So many games that I think would be so much more playable for beginning gamers if they'd have an option to turn off the timer, enable invincibility, or toggle some form of no-clip, yet would still remain entertaining. -

Continuing my husband’s Snowman initiation tonight with The Snowman and the Snowdog followed by the new Channel 4 documentary about The Snowman phenomenon. I was an emotional wreck within the opening seconds of the Snowdog film! Loving the Howard Blake bits in the documentary.
