Getting back into regular reading, finally, and finished Chelsea Abdullah's #TheAshfireKing yesterday. Two things that stood out: she does a very good job describing trauma, and she juxtaposes past over present in a way that Freud would have appreciated. The layering of lost glory and present struggle is a theme in #TheSandseaTrilogy and all too appropriate for our historical moment. #bookstodon #historical #fantasy #Djinn #middleworld
