As the World Cup kicks off tonight with Mexico vs South Africa, I'd just like to reassure the people of the USA that:
1) it is perfectly normal for the ball to be round and repeatedly kicked with the feet - this is why it is called "football"
2) it is also perfectly normal to have a "World" tournament and have lots of teams that are NOT from the USA (or a token Canadian team popping across the border) - again, it is in the nameHopefully those facts reassure you that the world isn't ending and this is just how sport is played. Enjoy!
