Pip made his brother wait for breakfast this morning because he just wouldn't leave me and I slept way in. 🥺
I figured he'd been downstairs for breakfast and had just come back up for wake-up cuddles. But no, he never left my side.
-
A noble beast.

I'm indexing in the reading room with Dayenu beside me on the couch, and I just heard Pip groan sleepily from the floor below me. I didn't even know he was here. 🥹
-
Pip's been eating like a champ and helped me start the day with under-the-covers cuddles. (which is mostly him going under and out from the covers over and over, purring).
-
Pip's energy is better, even if he's sleeping more than usual and still has digestive troubles. He was waiting at the bedroom door for me when I woke, as usual.
I'm thankful for your prayers. I really, deeply need my Pippercorn for the living of these days (w/ apologies to Harry Emerson Fosdick).

CW: pet health, scatology
Took Pip to the vet today. They think it's some infection, but need to see his stool sample.
I just want that boy to be healthy for a reasonable amount of time.

Two nights ago, I had a terrible nightmare featuring Pip.
Last night, I dreamt that, after escaping from some very unfriendly cats, Pip doubled - two Pips!

I have my first respiratory virus in over 6 years. Pip is concerned. As far as he knows this is a code red situation, unprecedented in his whole life, and he must stay close and apply healing purrs.

The best part of waking up is Pip purrs in your ears.

Yesterday as I sat down to take my shoes off after getting home, Pip demanded to be held. So I gestured for him to get on my lap, and he nuzzled my neck and head with his neck and head. When I put him down, the back of my neck was damp with drool.

CW: Pipdate, pet health, mental health
Tim left a bag of trash in the mud room overnight on Saturday, and Pip - who's got the cone on again and can't sleep with us - OF COURSE chewed the handle and ingested some of it.
It was maybe the maddest I've ever been at Tim. Up there with the most anxious I've been about a cat. But 36 hours afterwards, Pip's eating and drinking well and full of beans.
If I didn't have a major deadline Wednesday I'd throw a freaking party.

The vet said, "That's not that bad!" when she took a look at Pip's bum and PU site. He will need to wear the cone for at least another week, but it's not infected. We've also got more probiotics and anti-inflammatory meds, as well as vaseline to put on the site to reduce itching. I'm so relieved I could cry. #ThePippercorn

BREAKING PIPPERCORN NEWS
We can exclusively report that Pip has been cleared to go coneless and is on his way home as we prepare this Pipdate!

CW: Pipdate, surgery
Pip kept getting his cone off, so we tied it to his harness. It worked for one day, lol.
This morning we found the harness still on around his middle, the cone hanging uselessly at his side. He had groomed around the surgical site, but not bitten at the stitches, thank goodness.

There's no such thing as ergonomics when a recovering Pip needs your lap as his hospital bed.

Doing my morning puzzles with a very well-fed, beconed Pip on my lap.

CW: mental health
It wasn't until 2:30 that I was able to do some laundry, brush my teeth, and shower. A friend came over for tea and we swapped stories (she had to take her mom, who has dementia, to the hospital last week and it did not go well). So I'm feeling more myself now.
Further #ThePippercorn bulletins as events warrant!

CW: Pipdate, surgery
A *local* veterinarian can do the surgery today - no driving to Concord or Burlington!
Also, all the vets and techs and receptionists have been so kind, and you all have been so kind - it's keeping me going. Thank you all so much!

It's another urinary blockage. Looks like he will need surgery to widen his urethra, something sorta like bottom surgery for cats. That's a discussion for a later date, though.
He'll need to spend the rest of the next 48 hours at the emergency vet, because ours doesn't do overnight care. 😭
Please send good vibes, and if you have any $ to spare for Pip's care, my PayPal is KellyannWolfe and my Venmo is @Kellyann-Wolfe. #ThePippercorn

CW: pet health, vet
Pip is sick again - can't pee even though he wants to, which is how we ended up at the emergency vet 2 1/2 months ago.
I am so scared.
-
I accidentally sat on Pip this evening. He seems fine. He was more confused than anything else.
-
Yesterday was the anniversary of Pip's Gotcha Day.

Had a leisurely wake-up, cuddling with Spouse. A frantic scratching at the door - Pip, wanting to get in on the loving. Unfortunately, he loves to cuddle *between* us, but eventually he settled down as the smallest spoon in the drawer - the demitasse spoon, or as Spouse put it, the 1/8 teaspoon. #Cats #ThePippercorn

It's so good to see and hear Pippi looking alert and talking like his usual self again. Here's an older photo of him.

CW: Joyous Pipdate!
The vet agreed - no surgery! - and added that Pip's tummy is not paining him. It's inflamed, but empty, and she's going to offer him food (it's been painful, last night and this morning, to deny him food when he really wanted some).
We're bringing him home this afternoon!
-
No texts or messages this morning from either my spouse or the vet. 😿

CW: Pipdate, pet health
We're taking Pip in for surgery tomorrow. The vet said she's never seen anything quite like his situation. I hope this resolves things and gets some clarity.
Also, #Dayenu is being such a sweetie to his little brother. #ThePippercorn
