@jsit The only reason I've been holding off is that, as far as I've heard, every Blu-ray release has only the shortened version of the movie with "When Love Is Gone" cut. I heard that the original footage for that scene was discovered a little while ago so there was talk of releasing a new Blu-ray with the full movie, and as soon as I hear about that happening, I am definitely getting it, but until then I'm sticking with my DVD.

Happy 32nd anniversary to the best film adaptation of a book to have ever happened in the entire history of cinema and literature. One of the sweetest and most heartwarming interpretations of 'A Christmas Carol'. The first Muppets film to come out after the passing of Jim Henson and puppeteer Richard Hunt, dedicated to both their memories. The movie that gave us one of Michael Caine's most somber and emotional performances. The only version of the story featuring a blue, furry Charles Dickens of undefined species narrating his own novella. A masterpiece.

I have learned over the years that there are two versions of the movie circulating, one of which is shorter and omits "When Love Is Gone". IIRC it's because the original footage of that song sequence was lost so it wasn't available in HD, but it was recently found, so there is some hope that Disney is going to release an uncut Blu-ray version. (But it's Disney, so who knows 🤷) I've been making do with the standard def version, good old classic DVD. It's still great of course 🙂
And thanks for the tip about butter substitutions! I could try making the brownies with oil, but TBH I'm feeling relieved about just skipping them - I'm busy enough today even without having to bake brownies. Plus they're iced brownies, and the icing calls for butter as well; I'm not sure that would work so well with oil. So thanks, but no need to check. I will keep that idea in mind for the future though!

@OkayKay I've spent many Christmases on my own (not really by choice, but it is what it is) and I've got a fairly well established set of tradition at this point:
- cook lasagna and brownies for dinner (except this year I ran out of butter) with my favorite sparkling grape juice to drink
- snack on some chocolates throughout the day
- watch a movie I like (often #TheMuppetChristmasCarol, best Christmas movie ever!)
- send some holiday greetings to my family
- otherwise just do whatever I feel likeThis year I expect that to involve reading #WheelOfTime (I'm on book 12, hoping to finish the series by the end of the year) and listening to some good #ChristmasMusic

@fringemagnet YES such a good movie. It's not only my favorite adaptation of the source novel, but also my favorite Christmas movie, my favorite Muppet movie, and on the short list for my favorite movie of all time. Watching it has become my annual Christmas tradition.
