Joe Abercrombie and #TheFirstLaw set such a high bar that every time I try something that is recommended as similar (sort of Blacktongue Thief) I find myself disappointed. #TheftofSwords was another such disappointment. Now it’s on to #TheBlackCompany. We’ll see, I guess. But Abercrombie’s specific brand of grimdark seems to be unmatched.

  4. I feel like #TheLiesofLockeLamora was only just okay. I may have to revisit it, not immediately after an excellent book and maybe it’ll come off better. I’d say something like a 6/10. #novel

    #TheftofSwords is next. It has Tim Gerard Reynolds (who does the Red Rising audio books) so it’s already got some bonus points.
