'Scarce resource,' used for unnecessary shit, that no one asked for, to make themselves even richer, burning through the Earth's future because humans aren't using their own God given energy. Instead, robbing the planet to cheat time in order to get ahead. Maybe it's time to pull the plug on equity extortion and stop calling it efficiency?

Saw a mention of the movie #TheFinalCountdown on Reddit, and was reminded of one of the coolest shots in an aviation movie ever.
Filming was done on the actual USS Nimitz, her aircraft were used for all the hero aircraft.
So, an A7 Corsair calls in with an arrestor hook failure. This is a very bad thing, they can't stop properly in time without one. So the Captain orders the barrier raised and the flight deck prepped for a crash. Crew runs out, gets the barrier up, gets out of the way, Corsair comes in, slams into the barrier. Medical rushes out to get the pilot, everything done with textbook precision.
This wasn't an effect, wasn't a stunt flight, wasn't any sort of fakery. The A7 that was landing had an actual arrestor hook failure and the barrier recovery was 100% real emergency response, that just happened to occur during filming so they kept the cameras rolling and worked it into the story.
Navy probably OKd it because it showed the crew of the Nimitz could handle things going absolutely sideways, which is an inevitability in war. -
Can David Guetta stop ruining old songs, please?
I was already pissed off with "Blue" changing meaning of the song completely.
But this? This is both unnecessary and a travesty. He's really taken the soul out of the song. It has ruined it in such an unbelievably gratuitous way.
Parents of #Fedi: if you find your kid is playing this, please have the decency to introduce them to the original.

Today's session included a lot of #coding and #networking for our participants. They also had the chance to listen to Gabriele Messori, who shared his insights into Data-driven forecasts of extreme events and impact #forecasting with a focus on extreme heat events and their impacts on mortality rates across Germany.🔥Tomorrow, the groups will present their first interim results. It's the last hour or so of #TuneTuesday in Australia, just enough time to check on Commander @satsuma and Chief Navigator @Kitty on the flight deck.
Particularly to see how #SciFiSongs is going and whether anyone has been brave enough to nominate Europe's The Final Countdown.
Admit it: You'd recognise that synth line anywhere you heard it in the galaxy.
And it produced perhaps the greatest four lines in all pop music. Pure poetry:

My first attempt at a cover song was of Europe's epic "The Final Countdown", which since I first heard it in 1986, thought had one of the best synth lead melodies ever written.
Produced as a 4-channel chiptune, I remember struggling with both the chords and timing. It didn't end up as a perfect chip rendition of the original, but being a musically untrained 15-year old when I made it in early February 1996, I think it came out okay.

In the spirit of the #holiday season, here's a little #mashup tune I threw together a few years ago. It centers around my favorite #Christmas tune, #CarolOfTheBells, featuring samples from both the #TransSiberianOrchestra and #Pentatonix renditions of that song, but also contains some other elements, such as the #GameOfThrones theme and the iconic #synth lead from #TheFinalCountdown by #Europe, both of which were recorded by yours truly.
