  1. @gclef Yes, somehow we have to inform people about 'urgency and agency' related to the #climatecrisis. The way to communicate it may be different for each each person.

I recognised the text from the opening of #TheClimateBook. For most people, the problem will be getting anyone to even thinking about skimming such a book. For some people, they'll read it and still not understand.

  2. Just ordered this from #PowellsBooks (It’s a no Bezos zone in mi casa).

I’ve enjoyed @breadandcircuses running examination of #TheClimateBook by #gretathunberg. He’s doing important work disseminating knowledge in a time when so many of us are pushed so hard economically we just don’t have time to … read.

They say imitation is highest form of flattery. So, I’m going to take a page from B&C’s playbook and do the same. I’ll be providing notes, quotes, and summaries as I make my through what some are saying could prove to be one of the most important books of our age.

    Stay tuned.

  3. 20 books that have had an impact on who you are. One book a day for 20 days. No explanations, no reviews, just book covers (don't forget the alt text).

  4. I'm reading #TheClimateBook by Greta Thunberg and learning a LOT!

I'm struck by the parallels between the #ClimateCrisis & the #pandemic in terms of how, in both cases, addressing the problem requires people to completely change norms & behaviors.

A couple times, the book (published in 2022 & so written even earlier) holds up the covid pandemic as an example of how "in times of crisis... our societies can quickly change our behaviors and practices, for example wearing a mask..." (p. 367)

  5. I’m reading first person accounts of indigenous people around the world, and how climate change is destroying their livelihoods and way of life. It’s truly heartbreaking. #TheClimateBook

  6. "The Climate Book" by Greta Thornberg just arrived in the mail. So, I can move up from depression to despair regarding climate.

Still. Better to know, right. I have generations after me to worry about.
