Post-award ceremony blues - we won nothing despite four shortlisted entries but were the noisiest and felt like a team (despite some of us never having met and some of us knowing each other all too well).
Nearly home just saw Jodrell Bank in the far distance out of the train window 📡
Given the parlous financial state of the sector this all felt a bit last days of Rome, but all the people on our two tables have done some fantastic work and had the chance to celebrate a bit.

Going to a black tie awards ceremony later in Birmingham. Supporting my colleague Miller who is an essential part of my leadership team but also shortlisted for supervisor of the year. I have mixed feelings about awards but in these dark times I can’t think of anyone better than him to be celebrated. He’s been at my University for a long time, as a postgraduate researcher and then a colleague. His research on water and waste is world leading but it is his work with people and his integrity I admire.
