  12. #DunsPlayfest was brilliant in 2025. The website splash page now has links to a couple of reviews and a couple of short videos created by our team of young (paid) interns.

If you have a new play that you want to see staged in 2027 let us know, the programme for 2026 is now full and looks amazing!

  14. Really troubled to see colleagues at #MiddlesexUniversity at risk of #redundancy with the decimation of their Drama department. It’s very easy to cut Drama departments — but it takes decades to build them. London has such a vibrant arts sector — and global renown — but cutting courses and acedimics puts the whole sector at risk.

  15. Reading works in #TheatreStudies is so weird! Coming from #GameStudies, I read "play" as a verb that refers to an activity instead of a noun about a piece of writing.

The passage below makes two kinds of sense to me, and I keep forgetting mid-sentence which of them I was going for.

"When we investigate a play, the first (and obvious) thing to do is to define what is in the play, then we can add elements as a reader from own preconception and interpretation through the lens of subjectivity."

  16. Some good news: “Edward Albee and the Emergence of Difference and Diversity in US and World Theatre, 1950s-1970s”, an edited volume to which I contributed a chapter on James Baldwin’s “Blues for Mister Charlie”, will be published by Routledge next year.
