In areas throughout the Texas Hill Country, much of the heritage is also largely influenced by a range of climates ranging from humid in the east to semiarid in areas further west. -

#TexasGermans were important. I grew up in a German-settled area and didn't understand how that made us different from the rest of the state. Conservative, but not THAT conservative. They were a liberalizing influence. Living in East Texas for a couple of years brought that home for me. The only Union monument in the South in in Comfort, Texas. It honors some Texas Germans who opposed slavery and got massacred as they tried to make it to the Union side.

It's a tragedy that this movie came out during the lockdown, so few people saw it. I was in a very raw place at the time and it moved me deeply. It's about the tribes of Texas who became us, the awfulness that got us here, what it means to be a good man in hard times. And the wholesomeness of true human connection. Not to mention the newspaper career the economy pushed me out of.

It's about the tribes of Texas who became us, the awfulness that got us here, what it means to be a good man in hard times. And the wholesomeness of true human connection.
