This week I read "Daughter of the Empire" by Raymond E Feist and Janny Wurts. It's a political fantasy from 1987. Overall, I found it surprisingly good.
Surprisingly because I really didn't like Feist's "Magician" - I found it trope ridden and dull.

@TimmyMac I'm not going to lie, given that setup, I would probably go with Tékumel because I am both really old and perverse. Now, which edition of Tékumel I will leave to the gods of random chance. But if there was ever an old-school setting I wanted to play in, that would be the one.

looking towards adapting City of Carse for my games. I've had it for ages, but when I last checked it it didn't suit my campaign's mood.
Now I think I am going to have a look at it again.Will have to remove the Midkemia references though.
By the way, did you know that Reymond E. Feist's Riftwar novels started out with a #dnd campaign (which crossed over with #tekumel?)

I've just realized that already in the mimeo version of *The Empire of The Petal Throne* game there are lists of books for your adventurers to find, read and get mind blasted by. This is a few years before *Call of Cthulhu* does the same thing five or six years later. Interesting correlation!
