Continuation of this rework today, freehand tree to cover the odd lotus-esque sigil and somewhat messy handpoked roots I’d done a very long time ago. The root mass is full of eyes, which will be made clearer and highlighted with some white next time, and the tree itself is now healed but still too shiny to keep working on but will be shaded heavier next time. And then it will be done! For someone else I could have knocked this out all at once, but I value my spine and so I’ve been taking this in two hour chunks for now.

Worked on this cover project yesterday (on myself). I've been long wanting to cover this strange tattoo I did a long time ago when I first started learning, but haven't had the dedicated time to handpoke it. Now that I'm doing machine tattoos, also, it felt like time to sit down and get to work on this tree I've been building in my head for so long! It turned out good, I'm quite happy with it. I do think when it heals I'll go through and go even heavier on the darker tones throughout, but in the meantime I think it's fun that the old tattoo peeking through the wood grain makes it look like a toothy monster tree a little bit. I also want to go through and make the root complex below it actually look nice next time, as well, and then hopefully I'll feel satisfied with this after that!

An aside, I've been asked to guest at a cute boutique shop in LA called "Dotty". The owner is extremely interested in my practice and despite our aesthetic misalignment I'm very excited to do some work for some LA friends and be in the city again, and to meet her and the fellow artists at this shop! After the concerns about licensing we've cleared up the miscommunication so it's a go again! Dotty is an Asian woman owned and queer friendly studio, and it's appointment only so the atmosphere is really intimate and lovely for clients. If you've been eyeing my work from afar it would be a great place to meet!

Working on designing a very Christian tattoo (for someone I really care about in my partner's family, I'm not mad about it) because money so basically to offset that I think someone should definitely book a Very Very heathen tattoo from me very soon.
Perhaps this dagger, which is part of my Sympathetic Symbols book -- a series of handcrafted spells ready to be embedded in ink. Worth a thought, I think!

I finally finished this but to be completely honest I'm not very happy with how it turned out, so for now I'm not offering these as tattoos but will be releasing both a more abstract ornamental style floral sheet soon and reworking this more surreal style when time permits.

Small ward filler done as a test of the mesquite thorn needle grouping (picture obviously taken outside the studio and not in it)
There's work to be done with these groupings. I touched a few places of this with a steel needle because the mesquite thorns are so fine and there were spots that were going to really bother me that I wasn't going to be able to fix with the thorn grouping without overworking the spot. Aside from the awareness that even thorns that "look" straight probably need to be straightened somehow during the sterilizing process to be "truly" straight, I also think that there's a different technique for pricking that needs to be developed. I plan on doing a few more trials with these thorns and saguaro spines on fake skin and seeing how they compare with one another and also how different techniques might aid in the right appearance overall, and then more skin trials are most likely in the future.

Today's work: constructing a new needle grouping from a fox femur and screwbean mesquite thorns. It's been sterilized and should be ready to test tomorrow evening.
Screwbean mesquites are our true natives, along with velvet mesquites which don't boast quite such impressive thorns. They are thriving here, valuable habitat for many beings, valuable shade and windbreak for us and others, and a critical source of food.
Returning to tattoo, though it hasn't even really begun yet, has been wonderful, awakening. I have a very special plan for this grouping.

Long Beach trip in a couple of weeks, very excited to work with this new artist. Have a big session with a dear client booked soon after that here at the studio at the Ranch, and we're anticipating probably a few sessions will be needed for that piece.
By maybe August, before we start breeding and planting at the Ranch, I will have some time to travel to LA or San Diego areas to tattoo if anyone is located there and is interested. Emails are currently open!
I've posted this before but have yet to move all of my tattoo pictures to the new computer, so I'm just adding it for increased visibility. Boosts appreciated or shares if you have friends who could use some tat magic this summer!

There are some things afoot. First, I'm making progress on this ritual flower sheet. Can anyone guess based on the reference photo up on the computer what the third flower type is?
Bonus if you can figure out why I chose these three types of flowers for this sheet!
Finally, I'm opening up Thee Otherworld and a few client spaces for tattoos in October of this year. There will be four slots a month to start and I'd love to receive any and all of your inquiries!
I've long debated this, and will be keeping a portion of my Practice squarely reserved for those who are ready for the kind of Work it entails. However, fiscal reality and the necessity for us to create another revenue stream has me relying on my One Marketable Skillset for this -- it just hasn't been sufficient to try to get writing gigs in the age of AI or to build revenue with our newsletter. But! I have lots of valuable ritual experience and skill with a needle, and have created a safe and clean space within which to work magic with you, and I hope that a few folk will trust me to do that and make the trek out here to see and be with the Land in the midst of their transformation!
I am also going to be seeking out guest spots, but probably sometime next year, so keep your eyes peeled for my name at a shop near you. I am back on the dreaded Instagram, for now and if you'd like to keep up with those kinds of announcements feel free to join me there @sigillosacro. I'm trying to not fall into all this, but what we're doing with the Ranch is so important and I very much wish to keep it going -- unfortunately the state of the world is what it is and we're working within some brutal constraints.

I'm Nyx, an attentive entity with intent living in a highly dimensional universe with at least one pocket of apparent temporal cohesion where everything seems to follow very simple rules.
Professionally I am a self taught #programmer from the geographic south living in southern #Germany nowadays. I'm in my last steps of getting a bachelor in #physics and I like #science in general. I intend to study #genetics afterwards.
In my free time I like #writing as I want to become an author. Other than that I also like leaving permanent marks so I am an amateur #tattooartist and I am recently getting into other kinds of #bodymod and I feel curious about #biohacking and plan to keep tinkering with my body.Irl this is a big secret but oh well...
