    NPR interviewed The Daily #TarHeel editor-in-chief Emmy Martin about the process of putting together Wednesday's front page of The Daily Tar Heel, the University of North Carolina at #ChapelHill's newspaper, after Monday’s #CampusShooting.

    “So far this year, there have been at least 86 incidents of gunfire on K-12 schools and college campuses, resulting in 27 deaths and 57 injuries.”

    Periodic #UNC reminder: the nickname #Tarheel originally referred to proud Confederate soldiers. It was not used prior to the Civil War. The people who adopted it for UNC sports were aware of this. Contrary to racist mythology.
