I'm looking for a math #math #teacher who could show me, in #trigonometry , why it is equivalent to measure the #tangent as "an oblic segment" (towards the X axis) and a "vertical segment" (on x=1)

It seems intuitivelly logical, but i can't find a way to properly demonstrate it.

@pink_doublethink I liked Logseq but as a block-based outliner I wouldn’t consider it a replacement for Obsidian, and it’s in an odd place developmentally right now.

If Obsidian disappeared, I’d consider the following, which all use plaintext files in system folders:

- #Zettlr I’ve tried this and it’s quite good. Open source with a committed, responsive, personable dev. Definitely worth trying.

- #Tangent Notes

- VS Code/Codium with the Foam plugin

@pink_doublethink I liked Logseq but as a block-based outliner I wouldn’t consider it a replacement for Obsidian, and it’s in an odd place developmentally right now.

If Obsidian disappeared, I’d consider the following, which all use plaintext files in system folders:

- #Zettlr I’ve tried this and it’s quite good. Open source with a committed, responsive, personable dev. Definitely worth trying.

I use #NextcloudNotes, #Zettlr, #kwrite and a bit #tangent ( and obsidian too, but :blobcatgooglytrash: )

I try also orgmode with #orgzlyrevived and I like it - I tried also #emacs but that too hermetic for me … :blob_sweat:

perso j’utilise #zettlr #obsidian #tangent … mais ma question est une appli dédié pour faire des tableaux de bord et uniquement ça. Un peu dans l’esprit #unix == un outil fait une seule chose bien.

I've had a massive headache all day. I couldn't sleep last night, and also couldn't sleep when I tried to take a power nap this afternoon. Headache seems immune to pain killers.

I just took a break from trying to expand on a research idea, and checked my phone to see a Patreon notification.

Turns out Mother just dropped a 70-minute Tangent!

I guess that's my sign to close my laptop, get ready for bed, and watch her tangent until I hopefully feel tired enough to fall asleep.

Was watching a YT vid about Australia's worst prison. So people got sent to Aus, then sent to prison, then put on chain gangs, then flogged, then put in solitary on a barren rock in the sea.

Did no one wonder why this method wasn't working?

We've been doing crime & punishment that way for thousands of years. It does not work!

@taylorhadden @mjgardner @nyanotech AS A dev-type person, I WANT plain text notes and git-like versioning SO THAT I can understand how they work using my existing mental models and process them with my existing tools.

I could absolutely not explain the technical merits, but #SiYuanNote uses dejavu to handle synchronization and history. Lists "Git-like version control" as a feature. It's neat. But it's way easier for me to understand #Tangent + a Git repo that I manage myself because I already know Markdown and version control.

There's something really funny about a lot of those waifu-PNG-centric #mobilegames that also mildly bugs me. A lot of them are like, "here's a primary gameplay loop / core combat system that's decently well built and has at least a few interesting mechanics and concepts, but also it's really annoying having to grind through it a bunch in order to level up your myriad PNG Girls and/or make progress in the secondary gameplay loop / management / story, so we made a mechanic that lets you bypass the primary gameplay loop entirely and have it be played for you instead."

It's a little bit goofy and irritating, because it undermines the entire point of designing those core systems in the first place. It highlights the disconnect between making a fun game and making a Waifu PNG Collector. Like, I cannot find gameplay footage of Azur Lane or an explanation of what the main combat is like, because it's literally an entire section of the game that is instantly made irrelevant by autobattling, and so most videos discussing the game feature about ten seconds of actual combat and then ten minutes of dialogue or literally just menuing.

My notes are #PlainText first, #Markdown second. They're highly portable between platforms, apps, and devices. #macos and #ios are my weapons of choice, but they'd look and work the same on #android and #Windows.

They aren't #Obsidian notes, or #Logseq / #iaWriter / #tangent / #TextEdit / #Nota / #AnyType / #Taio / #TaskPaper / #vsCode notes, though I can use any of those apps as a lens to view and work with them.
