    Si l’on réduisait la population du monde à un village de cent personnes, voici comment elles se répartiraient : le village planétaire serait composé de 57 Asiatiques, 21 Européens, 14 Américains (du Nord, du Centre et du Sud) et 8 Africains. Il y aurait 52 femmes et 48 hommes; 30 Blancs et 70 non-Blancs ; 33 chrétiens, 21 musulmans, 13 hindouistes, 6 bouddhistes, 13 pratiquants de religions diverses (dont 0.2% de juifs) et 14 laïcs pur crin ; 89 hétérosexuels et 11 homosexuels ; 6 personnes possèderaient 59% de la richesse totale ; 80 vivraient dans des maisons insalubres ; 70 seraient analphabètes ; 50 souffriraient de malnutrition, une serait en train de mourir, une serait en train de naître, une possèderait un ordinateur et une (oui, une seulement) aurait un diplôme universitaire.

    Mon maître zen Taisen Deshimaru disait : » pendant la méditation le grand ego, ce moi qui recherche la sérénité, le comportement juste, l’équilibre, regarde le petit ego, ce moi agité, futile, anxieux, mesquin, perturbé… » Et cette prise de distance, ce lâcher-prise, est absolument salutaire, car nous devenons spectateurs conscients de notre univers mental et non plus acteurs inconscients. Cela apaise la pollution psychique qui nous encombre sans cesse et nous remet dans la plénitude de l’instant présent. Cela nous permet de discerner en nous les énergies positives et négatives en laissant apparaître ce meilleur qui nous habite, ce qui débouche sur un accroissement naturel de la bienveillance pour tout ce qui existe, et donc nos frères et sœurs humains et toute la nature.

    Nous devons apprendre, aujourd’hui et demain, non seulement à vivre en respectant la croyance d’autrui, mais aussi à se mettre à son écoute pour mieux approfondir la nôtre.

    La manière d’appréhender le monde dépend de la manière dont on le voit.

    Tout est question de présence au monde : un simple brin d’herbe recèle le mystère de la vie. Et il faut goûter ce fameux kôan zen qui explique si bien la communication particulière que l’on peut avoir avec les plantes : « L’homme regarde la fleur, la fleur sourit » Ouvrons donc grand les yeux !

    Chacun d’entre nous recèle des trésors d’inventivité, de gentillesse, d’amour, des qualités multiples qui ne demandent qu’à éclore. En termes personnels, que faisons-nous vraiment pour éveiller toutes ces potentialités enfouies en nous ?
