Discrimination, and all other forms of #dehumanization, make us experience and internalize #shame —painful, humiliating shame, which we try to hide and suppress so that we can experience #belonging.

And when we aren't capable of sitting with the massive discomfort of shame—turning a light on the parts of ourselves that evolved to be invisible—we cannot grow, apologize, take #accountability, or acknowledge how we contribute to #systemicharm.
