Well, getting a new gadget can be fun, but at the moment, I am getting a wee bit frustrated, as I checked certain settings for about 10 times now, and they "should" be good and all, but somehow... It's not working as it should. So I was hoping that maybe the #FediHive mind could help out?
I have a Samsung tablet. I have a BT Samsung keyboard connected to it. With the old Samsung tablet, I had the settings that, if I were using the physical keyboard, the on-screen one would sod off, unless I tapped the screen and then it would come back on again. But I have all the settings as they should be, with the "hide virtual keyboard when using a physical keyboard". I checked the setting in both the Android software and in my SwiftKey software. And that used to work properly with my old tablet. But whatever I set it to now, the SwiftKey keyboard doesn't leave the screen when I am using the physical keyboard and it's driving me nuts. I just want it to leave when I don't need it... Ugh... it's so annoying and I don't know what to do to have the on-screen keyboard just leave when I am using the BT one, like the old tablet just did when you set it to do that... 🤔
So hopefully some smart Fedi folks will know where my error lies and then help me end the "little" frustration over this...
Ah well, I wrote an email to a sweet friend, I wrote my journal toot, and I walked with Bas. Now waiting for a parcel to arrive. And I will have to hassle a bit with the Fedilabs app to get all my beige accounts in it. That's the only downside of having a few accounts on the same instance, it's a bit harder to add them all to the Masto app... But I have done it before, so I can do it again. 😉
When the parcel has been delivered, estimated now between 11:24-12:24, I will walk with Bas again. And then, I have a plan... Relax on the couch and watch some telly. Maybe catch a snooze with little Bas...
Have a lovely day/time folks! And thanks in advance for any help. I will add the "needed" hashtags beneath the Toot for visibility.

#SwiftKey is really great - way better than #Apple's stock keyboard on #iOS (in Norwegian). But it has this infuriating bug that messes up some markdown editors and makes them _much_ worse, like @drafts and #Noteplan.
Drives me insane (and it's ofc. literally impossible to get in contact with SwiftKey support. Thanks "Microsoft.

日本語を練習しています。
I've been learning #Japanese on my own for over twenty years. I can understand lots, speak a fair bit, read some ( #kanji is hard), but write virtually none. Online/digital tools have gotten so much better (ie, #SwiftKey sorted out what I typed phonetically, above), but it's not the same as being able to read and write a #language.
So, I've added another tool to my arsenal.
Shout to @coffeentacos for posting about just the thing I was looking for, when I was looking for it.

#Security #Nerds and #Experts of #Mastodon, I have a #Question for you.
.
.
I am attempting to de-#Google my digital life (as much as is possible at the moment). I got myself an #Android #MobilePhone that does not have Google services installed on it, and I am using #FDroid, #AuroraStore, #APKPure, etc. to get the apps, and using the #AppBrain #AdDetector and #DuckDuckGo's #App #Tracking #Protection (#Beta built into their mobile browser).
.
I am doing my best to use #minimal apps, and only getting ones that are not security focused when necessary. I am not logging into Google, or any other #BigSocial/ #BigData services except when necessary.
.
My question is, are there any #SMS / #Texting apps that allow you to login on the #Web and #sync messages to your phone (even if only on the same network), and a #keyboard that has #VoiceToText that does not use Google or #Microsoft? I am currently using #SwiftKey, but only until I figure out the #T9 app I am using with the KB (HYBRID phone running Android 11). -

Did you know that Windows 11 has a clipboard history feature that lets you access your previous clipboard entries? 🤔
This is a game-changer for those of us who frequently copy and paste multiple items throughout the day. 🙌You can also pin frequently used items to your clipboard history, making it even easier to access them in the future. 🔖 This is especially great for those commonly pasted phrases in emails or CRM's.
And what's more, if you use #Swiftkey Keyboard on your mobile, you can even sync copied items between your phone and PC! 🤯Check out this quick guide video on getting it set up for yourself and let me know what you think! 🎉
