There are going to be several hot days this week. It is a rather nice temperature at the moment though. I gave our street garden and back garden a thorough water tonight in preparation for the heat.

My mother pointed out that a lot of street trees in Melbourne are losing their leaves. It is the start of February so it is too early for deciduous trees to shed their leaves. I suspect that they are stressed because of the lack of sustained rain for several months, on top of a dry winter. We have been regularly watering our street garden for weeks so the tree in the middle of that garden is looking healthy but the other trees in our street not so much.

Our street garden has flourished, and so too have the weeds! After weeding today I laid down some mulch. A couple of neighbours stopped to chat which is what a street garden is about - connecting neighbours with each other
