Day three post-surgery for strabismus. Slept a ton on Saturday and Sunday - guess that’s normal after anesthesia.
Eyes are still calibrating. My new normal seems to be a need to hold my phone and books at arm’s length. Distance vision seems good and no more double vision.
Eyes feel a little bit dry, still some pain and fatigue if I focus on anything too long. Audiobooks and music are good company right now.
Eyes are bloody on the outside, but not nearly as bad as I expected. No bruising: probably because they only trimmed the lateral muscles on the outside of both eyes. Some people need adjustments to superior and inferior muscles, and/or internal lateral muscles. I imagine that if they need to dig in to all those the bruising is inevitable.
Doing two different eye drops four times a day right now, an antibiotic and a steroid. Will be tapering off the steroid for a month. Getting pretty good at administering the drops!
Really grateful for the care team at Duke Eye Center. Couldn’t have asked for a better or nicer bunch of folks. #strabismus #eyes #health

When You Stop Trusting What You See
I spent years blaming my technique when my photos lost sharpness — it turned out my eyes had quietly changed in ways I never noticed.https://islandinthenet.com/when-you-stop-trusting-what-you-see/
