It seems to me a very unjust thing to take away a man’s life for a little money, for nothing in the world can be of equal value with a man’s life: and if it be said, “that it is not for the money that one suffers, but for his breaking the law,” I must say, extreme justice is an extreme injury: for we ought not to approve of those terrible laws that make the smallest offences capital, nor of that opinion of the Stoics that makes all crimes equal; as if there were no difference to be made between the killing a man and the taking his purse, between which, if we examine things impartially, there is no likeness nor proportion.

Those who shout about the nationalization of FirePoint are asleep and see themselves (no, not as its leader or even as its "rukamivaditelem") "watching" over budget billions. Ті, хто кричать про націоналізацію FirePoint, сплять і бачать себе її (ні, не керівником і навіть не "рукаміводітєлєм") "смотрящім" за бюджетними мільярдами. I know enough. #GOP are the only savages I see. How do we avoid civil war? How? Who can tolerate these things? America undone.

Holy shit, #AI stealing in #Chile is going to be LEGAL.
Corpos will be able to scrap any public data for AI training, without retribution or compensation. Literally the paradise for stealing shit without consent.
If passed, it's going to be the ultimate "fuck you" to intellectual rights.

Well, those are my objections on moral grounds. From a practical point of view, surely it’s obvious that to punish thieves and murderers in precisely the same way is not only absurd but also highly dangerous for the public.
If a thief knows that a conviction for murder will get him into no more trouble than a conviction for theft, he’s naturally impelled to kill the person that he’d otherwise merely have robbed. It’s no worse for him if he’s caught, and it gives him a better chance of not being caught, and of concealing the crime altogether by eliminating the only witness.
So in our efforts to terrorize thieves we’re actually encouraging them to murder innocent people.
[Non licere putem. Quam uero sit absurdum, atque etiam perniciosum reipublicae furem, atque homicidam ex aequo puniri, nemo est, opinor, qui nesciat.

This is all part of the lessons that Putin gave to Trump:
Stop all expenditures of your country, and move it to your friends instead. In this case, to the 'Board of Peace'.
Doing that is even easier because, according to the Board's regulations, Trump can do with the money whatever he sees fit. It looks like Kushner can add another 2 billion to his net wealth.

Crime isn't that complicated. People #steal because taking something gives them something. If they're not in it for the money, they're in it for control. The act of taking, of breaking the rules, makes them feel powerful. They're in it for the sheer defiance. Some people steal to stay alive, and some steal to feel alive.

There's only one way to #steal a car and not feel guilty about it, and that's to steal the most expensive car you can find. That way, you know that it carries the maximum insurance possible, so whatever happens, the owner is covered.

In reality, he was living off of his victims. He #stole purses, broke into cars, #robbed people that were coming out of the subway, and did a lot of #shoplifting. He was like a human parasite, which was ironic considering what was going through his body this very moment.
Jason Medina, The Manhattanville Incident: An Undead Novel

He refused to #steal. He would not become a criminal. He would sooner die of starvation, first. Sometimes, he would get lucky and someone would buy him a meal or give him handouts or leftovers. He had no shame, so he took it gladly. A man in his position could not afford to feel pride.
Jason Medina, The Manhattanville Incident: An Undead Novel

Lester preferred to be homeless. It gave him a certain freedom. He no longer had to worry about paying bills, which was a huge load off his shoulders. He could easily #steal when he was hungry and he had no problem sleeping wherever he laid his head.
Jason Medina, The Manhattanville Incident: An Undead Novel

Despite the illusions that I so readily embrace, whatever I hold can’t be held, for in time, time will #steal it away. But time can’t hold God. Therefore, of all the things around me, my hands should be full of God and empty of everything else.
