Overview The region today known as South Florida is home to notable rural ecoregions including, but not limited to, the Everglades of Monroe, Miami-Dade, and Collier Counties. Inland portions of more northerly counties, such as Hendry, Palm Beach, and Glades, are also largely defined by rural identity thanks to hostile swamps across much of the area.
