After your first #StarCadre Combat Class game, you have the opportunity to choose the mission and the team for your next game. The default choice is one of each unit type, but you can choose a mission and tailor your team to perform best at it, e.g. more soldiers for an Annihilation mission. There's more to a #StarCadre Combat Class Rescue mission than getting those hostages out of there. Some of them might have useful skills, including combat skills. Giving them weapons looted from fallen enemies turns them into useful members of the team. Giving them blades in particular allows them to help free their colleagues more quickly, something that requires no skill. Remember to check out fallen enemies' inventories in #StarCadre Combat Class, and not only in Retrieval and Gathering missions. Some of your units might be lightly armed, and benefit from weapon and armour upgrades kindly bequeathed by the enemies you've dealt with. Entering a large room or corridor can be intimidating in #StarCadre Combat Class, as you've no idea how many enemies are lurking behind that door. This is a good time to make use of Stealth. Having a unit with a good Stealth skill creep into the doorway allows you to see how much danger there really is. Make sure you don't leave your unit in the doorway though, or they will be seen and attacked during the enemy turn! If a #StarCadre Combat Class unit carries more items than they can manage, they'll start to slow down, and nearly everything they do will take more of their precious action points. So don't over-equip your units, and when on a gathering mission, share out the load between the units that can manage it best. Opportunity Attacks in #StarCadre Combat Class allow units to attack enemies during the enemy's turn. If a unit has enough action points when an enemy appears within attack range, the unit will attack. Using opportunity attacks you're not taken by surprise when the enemy takes their turn! Stealth is for creeping around a location in #StarCadre Combat Class without being noticed. It's useful for peeking around corners or silently approaching an enemy to attack them. Light Firearms skill in #StarCadre Combat Class is for firing the laser pistol. The Auxiliary has this as their primary skill, but sometimes scouts and medics may also have Light Firearms as their main combat skill. Hostages are present in two missions: Hostage, where a single important hostage must be freed, and Rescue, where you must rescue as many captured hostages as you can. Hostages tend to have a random selection of skills. Those with combat experience can be armed and help your escape from the mission location. Enemies are a distinct class in Star Cadre: Combat Class. They have a wide range of combat skills and can be found using any weapon. Auxiliaries are light armed units that support the soldiers and other units. Equipped with a laser pistol, sometimes auxilliaries also have armour. Unlike soldiers with their laser rifles, an auxiliary can shoot effectively at close range. Useful for protecting the rear of the group when retreating from a potentially dangerous area. The Scout class are useful for sneaking into rooms and corridors without being detected. They can use this to inform the team of what opposition lies ahead, or maybe to sneak into an area to free a hostage or search for data cards. Scouts' high agility tends to make them the most speedy units in the game. Medics are an essential part of any successful Star Cadre: Combat Class mission. Combat in the future is deadly, and your units will likely sustain injuries that will need to be healed.
