#Andreas is o.a. patroonheilige van #Schotland. In de 4e eeuw kwamen de relieken van Andreas in Schotland aan door de monnik Regulus, die met zijn schip strandde bij het huidige St. Andrews. Daar werd een kathedraal voor Andreas gebouwd, die was af in 1318 maar verwoest werd in de #Reformatie.Andreas verscheen in 832 in een droom aan koning Angus II die toen vocht tegen de #Angelen. Hij won en sindsdien is het #Andreaskruis symbool voor de Schotten. Lees:

Just a little confused question regarding #BankHolidays in #Scotland: it’s a #StAndrewsDay bank holiday on Wednesday this week, but the schools are taking it today instead of Wednesday.
Isn’t that inherently illogical and disruptive? Doesn’t effect me as I work from home, but why not just have the schools off on the same day as their parents?
