First time I’m cutting and assembling glass!
And I enjoyed SO much, that ever since I hear my subconscious telling me to quit my job and do this all day long for the next twenty years or so.

'Let Us Satisfy'
#Cyanotype on tissue paper. Approx 3.5 x 1.8mA 'stained glass window' made for #York Library, using source material from an #archive collection of #StainedGlass makers in York.
I made full-size digital collages (first image), which I used as negatives to print the cyanotypes.

If you have an archive project I can work on, do let me know!
This stayed up 6 months longer than planned as it proved very popular with library visitors.

Les vitraux de Waha (1/2)
🇫🇷 Je l'avais promis hier, voici donc les six vitraux collatéraux de l'église de Waha que l'on doit à Jean-Michel Folon et qui relatent les étapes de la vie d'Etienne, le premier martyr chrétien (son martyre est relaté dans les Actes des Apôtres au chapitre 6).
Le premier vitrail représente Etienne allaité par une biche blanche.
Le second relate l'épisode de l'interrogatoire par les rabbins et la condamnation à la lapidation.
Le troisième raconte le secours venant du ciel : un ange et une colombe.

🇬🇧 I promised it yesterday, here are the six collateral stained glass windows of the church of Waha designed by Jean-Michel Folon and which relate the life of Stephen, the first Christian martyr (his martyrdom is recounted in the Acts of the Apostles in chapter 6).
The first stained glass window represents Stephen breastfed by a white doe.
The second relates the episode of the interrogation by the rabbis and the sentence of stoning.
The third tells about the help coming from heaven: an angel and a dove.

There’s a dark room in the Crawford Art Gallery, Cork, with 3 stained glass works by Harry Clarke. This photo is one of those and should be seen in person if you’re in Cork.
They were made by Clarke while he was in his early twenties, and still a student at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art. In 1911, he was awarded a highly covered gold medal for these at the South Kensington National Competitions.

The church on Inis Meáin was built in 1939 so I guess its stained-glass windows were designed by the Harry Clarke Studio, rather than by Harry Clarke himself.

#OTD 6th January 1931 Irish artist Harry Clarke died. This image is of his stained glass window entitled ‘The Last Judgement’ in St Patrick’s Church, Newport, Mayo. The work was commissioned in 1926, but installation was not completed until after Clarke’s death. The panel on the right shows the damned being cast down to hell and includes a self-portrait of the artist.

The Geneva Window by Harry Clarke. Originally destined for the ILO in Geneva. However, there was a number of objections to various elements of the design, so it was never installed there.
Sadly, it's now resides outside the country in the Wolfsonian Museum in Miami, Florida.
