Today the #SROP webmaster made the first update to our FAQ page since 2023. Reluctantly, we have added an "AI Policy" to clarify things that none of our myriad customers have, so far, asked about. We might elaborate at some point, but at least now we have a "policy".

Sad to hear all of this about D2D! Even though #SROP doesn't use the service, I had occasionally considered whether D2D might "help". Now glad I never did that, thus avoiding the aggravation of this latest enshittifying move. Hope all you indie authors find a good place to land when D2D goes belly-up.

We'll see if this actually materializes; I wouldn't hold my breath for 'Zon to ever make EPUBs directly available. FWIW, I've used #Calibre for years to swizzle formats when I "need" to buy from them.
(The original problem you reported earlier this year & flip-flop enshittification illustrate more reasons #SROP books will never be available from such platforms. Insert barf emoji here.

Meanwhile, the #SROP "art department" is one under-fed rodent in a tie-dye T-shirt with a bottomless tin of gummies... The juicy work of illustration & photography is hired out to artists, while he just glues the stuff together... unless he's too zoned out, in which case the head honcho usually takes over to meet deadlines.

That cover bit in the accompanying image highlights one big reason why all #SROP book covers are designed by #artists who have actually read the book, and often have subsequently discussed the book with its author. We need accurate depictions on our covers, even if they might be less lurid than one might hope.

(And, btw, this incident reminds me again why #SROP does not just put big free samples, or entire books, on the Internet in an unguarded location. Giving shit away for free to humans isn't the same thing as rolling out a feast for thieves and inviting them to steal everything and try to charge other people money for access.)
