Per the Del Norte County Sheriff, LEVEL 2 now includes the following: Rowdy Creek Road from approximately Mile Marker 3 (from Hwy 101) to approximately Mile Marker 6, and Low Divide Road from approximately Mile Marker 3 (from Hwy 197) to approximately Mile Marker 13; and Rock Creek and Big Flat. Low divide has been upgraded from Level 1 “be ready” to Level 2 “get set”

Out of an abundance of caution based on recent significant fires that have impacted similar communities throughout the state the Del Norte County Sheriff’s office has raised the evacuation level to 3. This will be in full effect and full closure by 8:00 PM. If you are a resident of Gasquet and not currently in your residence and need to return to gather essentials and/or family members, you will be permitted to return with proof of residency until 8:00 PM.

FIRIS at 12:30pm 8/19 puts Kelly Fire part of the Smith River Complex at 12,486 acres. At the time of mapping Kelly Fire was • 1.89 miles from Panther Flat Campground • 4.03 miles from the center of Gasquet • 0.61 miles from Idlewild • 0.53 miles from Grassy Flat Campground • Kelly Fire is 0.57 miles from merging with the N Holiday Fire

Approximately 150 lightning strikes across the forest since Tuesday evening, resulting in at least 27 confirmed fires.
The 16 fires on the Gasquet Ranger District have an estimated acreage of 7,300.
